Better Plumbing for Better Living

The Indian Plumbing Association brings together professionals, manufacturers, consultants, and industry leaders to improve plumbing knowledge, standards, and practices across India.

About IPA

The Stalwarts Came Together in 1993

The 1990s witnessed rapid development in the building industry, with large projects emerging across the country. Leading business personalities and professionals involved in building construction, including architects, engineers, real estate developers, project managers, and manufacturers, recognized the need to establish a national plumbing association.

This association would facilitate the free flow of knowledge on plumbing design, products, international technologies, and installations.

In 1993, a group of visionary leaders, led by Shri S. G. Deolalikar, formed a dedicated team of founders with the objective of creating a pan-India association. Their efforts resulted in the formal registration of the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) as an NGO.

The Association Today

A national community serving India’s built environment

At the time of IPA’s formation, there was a significant void in the industry that needed to be filled. Members enthusiastically joined the Association and volunteered to work towards achieving its aims and objectives.

As of June 2025, IPA has 28 chapters established across the country, each with a duly elected Executive Committee to serve the community. IPA volunteers remain committed to making India a country with Better Plumbing for Better Living.

1993 IPA was founded and formally registered as an NGO.
